i just got word from secretly canadian that they are almost out of the initial pressing of the deluxe magnolia electric co. 2xLP with the bonus 10”. it’s available directly from them and will be in stores on tuesday. future pressings will just be the 2xLP so if you’d like the bonus 10” with two unreleased studio cuts i wouldn’t wait long!
the 10th anniversary 2xLP/2xCD version of magnolia electric co. is streaming at NPR in advance of its american release on november 12th. orders from secretly canadian have also started shipping for those that have pre-ordered!
in early 2003, secretly canadian released the album that saw jason molina transitioning from the hushed work of songs: ohia to the ripping full-band sound of magnolia electric co.. ten years later they’re back with a deluxe double LP version that includes jason’s solo demos for the album (originally included as a bonus CD with the first pressing). the first pressing of 3,000 will also include a bonus 10” featuring two tracks recorded during the session for the album- the studio version of “the big game is every night” (originally a japanese bonus track) and a previously unreleased studio version of “whip poor will” (which would appear on the final meco album “josephine”). secretly canadian is also pressing a 2xCD (with both bonus tracks) or you can get the 2xLP, 10” and 2xCD bundled with a classic black meco logo shirt. the deluxe editions will be available in stores on november 12th in north america and november 25th in europe.

on august 27th, misra records is set to reissue the 1991 cassette ‘hello future tinglies’ by jason molina’s high school metal band the spineriders. jason handled the bass in the band and todd jacops (who also played on the early songs: ohia releases) played guitar. you can stream the entire cassette on soundcloud. it’s limited to 300 copies on cassette and is available for pre-order. All proceeds will benefit the musicians emergency medical association.
